The Miguel Hernández University (UMH) of Elche has presented ComunIA, its new Center for Communication and Artificial Intelligence, aimed at connecting and training talent and companies in the use of AI for communication.
The center, which focuses on leveraging communication in the age of artificial intelligence, will hold its presentation event on Friday, October 16. The event will include a hackathon with specific communication challenges and a talk by Jon Hernández, an influential AI communicator, titled 'Eureka! Music and Science'. The event will take place in the Auditorium of the Rectorate building on the Elche campus, and admission is free with prior registration.
ComunIA will offer customized training for companies and 57 accredited micro-credentials, organized into six training lines. The center will not only teach AI tools but also train in their application to communication, branding, marketing, data, and strategy, responding to the demands of the current market.
The initial training offer includes four practical micro-credentials accredited by the UMH, covering areas from strategic branding to personalized systems using verified information (RAG), as well as positioning in artificial intelligence results (GEO and AEO).
The inaugural event will feature a project presentation, a panel discussion with demonstrations of functional AI applications, and in the afternoon, a hackathon where companies and university talent will collaborate to propose solutions to communication challenges. The closing session will be led by Jon Hernández, known for his AI outreach and a large YouTube following.
“
"With ComunIA, we want to position Elche and the Valencian Community at the forefront of communication with artificial intelligence. We are not just talking about training; we are talking about generating profiles that companies need now and that translate into productivity, competitiveness, and quality employment."
According to ComunIA's director, UMH professor Félix Arias, the goal is for university knowledge to have a real economic impact on the productive sector.
“
"ComunIA is training that adapts to what companies need. We identify the necessary skills with the productive sector and turn them into specific and flexible micro-credentials. And if it is truly cutting-edge training, it is above all because of who teaches it: faculty who combine the academic rigor of the UMH with active professionals who know firsthand where the market is heading."
For his part, the Vice-Rector for Students and Coordination at UMH, José Juan López, emphasizes that the center reaffirms the University's commitment to offering accredited, flexible training connected to professional reality.
