This move, common among public administrations, aims to allow potential contractors to study their options before submitting bids. The university institution estimates the future annual service cost at 8.7 million euros.
The tender seeks to ensure the adequate maintenance of academic facilities located in Elche, Altea, Orihuela, and Sant Joan d'Alacant. The maximum ceiling for the contract will be 8,782,978.4 euros. Currently, Eulen is responsible for this service, with a contract in force since September 2021 that has already expired. The comprehensive cleaning costs 8.4 million euros annually, so the university anticipates a price increase and update of at least 300,000 euros.
Furthermore, in 2025, UMH formalized the second extension of the cleaning contract, which took place on May 27 and expires on September 30 of this year, for an amount of 3 million euros.
Regarding extensions, the university has also renewed with the UTE Jardines UMH —formed by Gestaser and Geamur— the maintenance and comprehensive cleaning service for landscaped areas, urban furniture, roads, and parking lots. This service is extended for 1.1 million euros, to continue with the planting and maintenance of green areas, landscape gardening services, and tree maintenance.
This formalizes the second extension of the contract after the first one ended on April 30. The UMH gardens are considered among the best-maintained in the city, due to their variety and upkeep, and have become a reference area for leisure and outdoor dining on weekends.
