This action, along with others being progressively implemented in this business area, was discussed during a meeting between representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure and a delegation of entrepreneurs from the Technology Park, as well as from Mas Camarena and Heron City. The main objective was to analyze various mobility actions to alleviate congestion at the park's access points.
Representing the Generalitat were the third vice-president and minister of Environment, Infrastructure, Territory and Recovery, Vicente Martínez Mus; the director general of Terrestrial Infrastructures, María José Martínez Ruzafa; and the director general of Transport and Logistics, Manuel Ríos. The business and neighborhood delegation was led by the president of EGM Parc Tecnològic Paterna, Antonio Alagarda, and the manager, Manuela Pedraza, along with entrepreneurs Rafael Castillo, Francisco Izquierdo, Inmaculada Campos, and Antonio Rami, as well as Pepe Molero and Manuel Mourelo representing Mas Camarena.
During the meeting, the current situation of Paterna Technology Park was analyzed. It experiences high daily travel demand and a strong reliance on private vehicles, used by nine out of ten workers, leading to congestion problems at access points and a significant deficit of parking spaces.
The business and neighborhood group requested the implementation of a BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) System, a high-capacity bus line with similar features to a tram, which would connect the Empalme station with the Technology Park and surrounding residential areas. Multimodal mobility HUBs were also proposed, and the need to request a new strategic access from the AP-7 (bypass) from the Ministry of Transport was conveyed, considered key to reinforcing the international competitiveness of the Technology Park and the Science Park.
As part of the roadmap to improve accessibility to the area, in the medium term, the Generalitat is studying the implementation of a bus-HOV or reversible lane in the main accesses. In the long term, structural actions are contemplated, such as the development of high-capacity transport systems, including a BRT type model, or the extension of tram line 4 to the Technology Park.
These measures complement others already implemented, such as the L144 València-Parque Tecnológico shuttle bus service, which has increased its daily expeditions from 11 to 48, a 336% increase, serving over 90,000 passengers daily. Additionally, the frequencies of the L130 Metrobús line have been increased by 30% on weekdays.
“"We consider the improvement of mobility and safety a strategic axis to guarantee economic growth, the attraction and retention of talent, and the sustainability of the main business and technological enclave of the metropolitan area of València."
