The company Aigües de Sagunt, which manages the integral water cycle in the capital of Camp de Morvedre, is facing the final stretch of its concession, which ends in 2034. With this horizon, the company, co-owned by the city council and Aguas de València, is preparing measures to finance priority investments, especially those aimed at mitigating flood risk.
Following the approval by the board of directors of an increase in the average domestic bill of approximately 17 euros annually and a 17.4 million euro works plan to improve the network, the next step will be its plenary approval. The Generalitat's Price Commission must give its final approval for the new tariff to come into effect.
Meanwhile, Aigües de Sagunt approved its accounts and management report for 2025, which show profits of nearly 675,000 euros and a turnover of 11.8 million. Of this amount, almost 5.9 million come from water sales, 3.9 million from investments, and 1.5 million from sewerage.
The number of water service subscribers in Sagunt reached its maximum with almost 43,000, of which 37,500 are domestic and 4,750 industrial. The hydraulic performance, one of the highlights of the balance sheet, stood at 73% in 2025, a decrease compared to the previous two years. This drop is explained by both structural and accidental leaks, including a significant one in the Pedres Blaves area in mid-December, which left thousands of users without supply.
Other factors contributing to water loss include municipal consumption, illegal connections to the network, and increased operational activities, such as the disinfection of new pipes. The report also warns about the possible indirect impacts of the military tension in the Middle East on the increase in energy and raw material costs.
