The reduction in unemployment in Riba-roja de Túria has been significant over the past ten years. Official figures from Labora indicate that the percentage of jobless people has decreased from 21.05% in 2016 to 8.90% currently. This improvement translates to a reduction of nearly 1,100 unemployed individuals between 2014 and the present, falling from 2,217 to 1,129.
Following the health crisis of Covid-19, which caused a spike of nearly 300 unemployed individuals, statistics have steadily improved. While there were 1,759 people without employment in 2020, today the figure has dropped to 1,129, meaning 630 fewer people.
The improvement is evident for both men and women. The number of unemployed men has decreased from 1,059 to 418 (641 fewer), while for women, the reduction has been from 1,158 to 711 (447 fewer) between 2014 and the present.
The current unemployment rate is the lowest since 2007, when there were 706 unemployed individuals with a total population of 19,083 inhabitants, compared to nearly 25,000 currently. The year 2015 marked a turning point, with a progressive improvement from 20.01% to 16.85% the following year.
The month of May this year recorded 1,129 people unemployed, a figure lower than the 1,195 from the previous year and significantly less than the 1,336 in May 2023. Compared to May 2021, when there were 1,677 unemployed, the reduction is 548 people.
Concurrently, Social Security affiliations have reached record highs in Riba-roja de Túria, exceeding 21,900 working individuals in the municipality. Of these, 1,874 are self-employed, the highest figure in the local history.
In just over a year, between December 2024 and April of this year, affiliations have increased by nearly 1,000 people. Compared to 2015, affiliations have soared by over 7,000, from 13,734 to the current 21,900.
Labor contracting has also seen growth, rising from 1,132 contracts in January to 1,279 in May. Permanent contracts now exceed 54% of the total, reflecting greater job stability.
