The latest figures from the Ministry of Social Security and Labora confirm the strength of the labor market in Marina Alta, which, for now, remains unaffected by international geopolitical tensions. According to the analysis by the Observatori Marina Alta of Creama, there is a slight acceleration in the pace of job creation.
The region's labor market generated 1,611 new jobs in March, a 2.56% increase compared to February. This rise brings the total affiliations to a new record of 64,600, fully recovering the job destruction from January. The monthly increase is higher than that recorded in 2025, though lower than in 2024 and 2023.
Compared to March 2025, there are 2,526 more affiliations, representing a year-on-year growth of 4.07%. This is the largest year-on-year increase since September 2023 and marks 16 consecutive months of positive trend, indicating a stable trajectory in the regional labor market. March 2026 is the fifth consecutive year with a positive year-on-year balance, driven by Easter Week and the start of the tourist season.
The hospitality sector leads job creation with an additional 1,134 people (+10.46%), followed by retail trade with 167 additional affiliations. Other sectors such as construction (+65) and artistic activities (+41) also show increases. The number of self-employed individuals has also reached a new historical high with 19,304 people, an increase of almost 60 from the previous month.

People over 44 years old represent 64.13% of the total unemployed.
