The Baix Vinalopó region is experiencing a boom in solar energy with the projection of a small photovoltaic plant in Crevillent and the advancement of a project in Santa Pola, both driven by the Simplifica Plan of the Generalitat Valenciana.

The agricultural company Arvarl has projected a 500 kW photovoltaic plant in Crevillent, a modest but significant foray reflecting the growing trend of renewable energies. This plant, which will feature 1,000 photovoltaic modules mounted on fixed structures, will minimize the use of concrete and earth movement. The generated energy will be connected to Enercoop's distribution network.
Arvarl Explotaciones Agrícolas del Mediterráneo, initially dedicated to agriculture, expanded its corporate purpose a couple of years ago to include the promotion, construction, and operation of energy infrastructures. The Crevillent project will be located on a 6.34-hectare plot, with the modules occupying approximately 0.90 hectares, near the A-7 and the Camí Vell de Catral.
To mitigate the landscape impact, small clusters of vegetation with native species such as mastic, dwarf palm, lavender, and rosemary will be created. These will act as a visual barrier and provide ecological value. Additionally, a continuous, low-maintenance plant cover will be sown under the panels, using species like Lotus corniculatus, Medicago sativa, and Trifolium subterraneum, to prevent shadows and facilitate future dismantling.
Furthermore, the Elche City Council has approved the terms and conditions for the patrimonial concession of land in the Sierra de Santa Pola, managed by the Generalitat Valenciana. This land will be used for the evacuation line of a solar plant. Last year, the council already authorized the concession to the company Univergy ES SPC 11, owned by Starnberge SL, for a project in Santa Pola.
The Ministry of Industry authorized this 3.15 MW solar plant in Santa Pola, specifically in the district of Valverde, in June 2024. The project, named FV Valverde Bajo, will occupy 35,400 square meters and include 4,984 photovoltaic modules. Although the land is municipal heritage of Elche, technical services have found no objections to its concession.
