The Moncofa City Council is expected to report on the settlement of the 2025 municipal budget at the next plenary session in April, revealing a treasury surplus of over 6 million euros.
This economic outcome, which includes liquid funds in the treasury of 4.6 million euros at the end of the fiscal year, confirms the municipality's sound financial health. According to Wences Alós Valls, the local mayor and head of finance, responsible management allows for investments in municipal improvements.
“
"With focused and responsible management, with foresight, year after year we present a positive result that allows us to invest in improvements in our municipality."
In addition to the surplus, the intervention report highlights the balance of municipal accounts, endorsing compliance with the spending rule for an amount of 560,899.19 euros and budgetary stability for 1.2 million euros. The analysis also values the 2.7 million euros obtained in subsidies from other administrations, which enable improvements in services and works, such as street cleaning, without cost to citizens.
“
"For this governing team, the search for subsidies from other administrations has always been a priority, which is allowing us to provide employment to our neighbors, improve services, and carry out works that do not come directly from the pockets of our citizens."
The positive result will not only allow for works and service improvements but also lays the groundwork for addressing the urbanization of PAI Belcaire Sur, with a cost exceeding 12 million euros, and confronting part of the “poisoned inheritance” from previous management. Part of the surplus will be invested in the pedestrianization of the Plaza de la Constitución, the Municipal Trinquet, the Asphalting Plan, and the Sewerage Plan, among other actions.
