This decrease represents 90 fewer job seekers compared to the 2,239 recorded in March of last year. However, the sector added four more unemployed individuals than in the previous February.
The evolution of the first two months of 2026 also shows decreases compared to a year ago. The 2,208 and 2,145 unemployed in January and February represent drops of 103 and 112 people respectively, when comparing the same months of 2025.
Industrial unemployment accounts for 24.3% of the total job seekers registered at Labora offices, which in March stood at 8,841. This figure represents a decrease of 27 compared to February and 472 unemployed compared to a year ago.
Globally, in the regions of l'Alcoià and El Comtat, continuous unemployment decreases have been registered so far this year, both when compared to the same months of the previous year and to the preceding month. Last month, industry was the only sector that registered an increase compared to the previous month, while it decreased by 15 people in construction, 10 in services, four in agriculture, and two in the group without activity.
The number of job seekers by sector was 179 in agriculture, 558 in construction, 2,149 in industry, 5,509 in services, and 446 registered without activity.
Regarding industrial hiring during the first quarter of this year, a total of 3,290 contracts were recorded, a figure 32 lower than in the same period last year, according to Labora data. Industry accounts for 44.4% of all contracts made during the first quarter of this year in the regions of l'Alcoià and El Comtat, which totaled 7,409.
