The decision comes after learning that the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has discarded the implementation of the electrified double track that was planned for the rest of the Cantabrian-Mediterranean Corridor.
For the business association, this axis is a fundamental infrastructure to boost economic development and improve the connection between the ports of Valencia, Sagunto, and Castellón with the peninsular interior. The CEV believes that investments must guarantee sufficient capacity to absorb the growth in freight and passenger traffic in the coming decades.
The entity's infrastructure commission will examine the document exhaustively in collaboration with the involved economic sectors. According to the association, renouncing the double track means limiting business competitiveness and the logistical capacity of the Camp de Morvedre region, which is currently experiencing significant industrial expansion.
