Ivace+i Innovation has resolved the award of grants for the creation of Business Innovation Scientific Units (UCIE), which support applied research oriented towards the productive sector. The European Union contributes 60% of the funds through the FEDER Comunitat Valenciana program for the 2021-2027 period.
The Minister of Innovation, Marián Cano, emphasized that these grants strengthen the capacity of universities and research centers to transform knowledge into innovative solutions for companies. UCIEs are a strategic instrument for fostering collaboration between the scientific system and the productive sector, accelerating technology transfer, and improving the competitiveness of the Valencian economy.
The new units will develop innovations in areas such as health, artificial intelligence, and the agri-food and biotechnology sectors. With these additions, the network of UCIEs supported by Ivace+i Innovation expands to 22 active units.
These specialized R&D&i units actively cooperate with the network of innovation agents financed by Ivace+i, including research centers, technological institutes, and business associations. Public funding is designed to incentivize the launch and consolidation of these structures, with a maximum duration of six years.
This allocation is in addition to other innovation support programs. The projects and beneficiaries of the call, with a total budget of 59 million euros, will be progressively announced until next autumn.
