A single-family home on Colón Street in Dénia was demolished in a matter of hours this Tuesday to make way for a new hotel, which will be linked to the El Condado nightclub.

The demolition of the house, located in the urban core of Dénia, was completed in just a few hours during Tuesday morning. Early in the day, the area around the property, situated next to the rear of the El Condado nightclub, had already been fenced off. Traffic was diverted via La Via Street, and demolition work began shortly after, with a large part of the building already torn down by around 12:30 PM.
These works are part of a growing trend in Dénia's city center to build new hotels and charming hostels. The project on Colón Street is directly linked to El Condado, aiming to provide accommodation for its clients.
The demolished house was abandoned and relatively small, with only a ground floor and one upper level. Its demolition presented no urban planning difficulties, as the house had no special protection. In this central area of Dénia, more stories are now permitted, up to the height of the aforementioned nightclub building.
In November 2025, it was already reported that up to four new hotel projects were being planned in Dénia's city center. In addition to this one, others are located on Marqués de Campo, in the former clinic of Manuel Lattur; on Cop Street; and on a property at the intersection of Fora Mur and Temple de Sant Telm. Another hotel is also expected on the site of the old Penal, though it has not yet been finalized.
