The Foios City Council is promoting the creation of a second installation for its local energy community, following the success of the first photovoltaic plant located at the CEIP Rei en Jaume school.

The first plant, with a power of 108.90 kWp and 32.8 kWh of storage, has allowed user families to reduce their electricity bills through collective self-consumption. This success has motivated the search for new infrastructure to continue advancing towards a more efficient and sustainable energy model.

"From the very beginning, in the governing team, we have firmly committed to implementing clean energy production formulas and advancing towards a more efficient, sustainable, and locally rooted energy model to approach energy autonomy and protect prosperity, which is essential and practically unquestionable in the world we live in, as the complicated geopolitical framework is demonstrating."

Although the council is not part of the energy community as a partner, it has played a key role as a promoter and facilitator. It ceded the roof of the CEIP Rei en Jaume for the first installation, which is legally structured through the Sapiens Energía cooperative. The Foios City Council has been a main actor in the promotion and implementation of this initiative, taking advantage of the state regulatory framework that facilitates the creation of energy communities.
For the second photovoltaic plant, the corresponding aid has already been requested, and work is underway to locate and finalize agreements on a private roof that can house this new energy infrastructure. Conversations with the property owner are in the final stages. Once the agreement is closed and execution deadlines are defined, a new registration process will open so that more residents can benefit from the energy supply and reduce their electricity bills.
