The project, which includes a photovoltaic plant and a battery storage system, will receive 1.9 million euros from Next Generation funds. This initiative, the only one from the Valencian Community selected in the Renocogen 2 call by the Ministry for Ecological Transition, aims for production decarbonization.
Euroarce, part of the Aragonese group Samca, also has production centers in Onda and l'Alcora. The new facility in Cabanes will cover 27,000 square meters and generate approximately 6,100 MWh of renewable energy annually, meeting around 35% of its electricity demand.
This action is expected to prevent the emission of about 1,600 tons of CO₂ per year, enhancing energy efficiency and reducing reliance on the electrical grid. The Samca group already has 18,000 kWp of industrial self-consumption photovoltaic capacity across its facilities.
The Renocogen 2 call, funded by Next Generation, has subsidized eleven projects in Spain to replace fossil fuels with renewable energies in cogeneration plants, with a total investment of 20 million euros. Navarra has the highest number of selected initiatives.
