Alcoy has experienced a significant decrease in the number of Social Security affiliates during June, losing 548 workers compared to May. This figure represents a 3% drop and brings the total number of contributors to 17,454, the lowest level since last September. This situation contrasts with May, when the city surpassed 18,000 contributors, a milestone not reached in the last 18 years.
The decline has been concentrated mainly in the general regime, which lost 540 workers, leaving 13,380 affiliates. There were also 15 fewer self-employed workers, totaling 3,734. Conversely, the domestic sector saw a slight increase of six employees, reaching 267, and the agricultural sector added one more worker, bringing the total to 73.
However, the year-on-year trend shows an improvement, as June this year has 398 more contributing workers than in June of the previous year, an increase of 2.3%. The only sector that has decreased compared to a year ago is agriculture, with 23 fewer workers. The general regime has increased by 364 contributors, the self-employed by 34, and domestic employees by 23.
Despite the drop in contributors, Labora's offices in Alcoy have recorded positive trends in both the number of job seekers and the contracts formalized. In June, 1,236 contracts were signed, 159 more than in May and 16 more than a year ago. Regarding job seekers, Labora registered 4,134 registered individuals, six fewer than the previous month and 170 fewer than in June 2025.
