The meeting, part of the institutional trip that the local executive is undertaking in the Asian country between April 13 and 16, has allowed for the exploration of investment avenues for the municipality. Mayor Pablo Ruz and the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Samuel Ruiz, described the meeting as “very productive.”
Also participating in the meeting was Liu Xiaotong, a member of the Standing Committee of the Nansha District, along with institutional and technical representatives from the Chinese local government and the Guangzhou Import and Export Manufacturing Association.
The Elche delegation is satisfied with the meeting due to the interest generated by the city's economic potential.
According to Samuel Ruiz, the Chinese side showed interest in the expansion of Elche Business Park and the entrepreneurship initiatives promoted by the City Council. This strategy aims to consolidate “bidirectional” relationships and strengthen Elche as a hub of economic activity and job creation.
For his part, Pablo Ruz highlighted the “very productive and prolonged” nature of the meeting, which focused on three key areas: trade, supported by infrastructures such as the airport; agriculture, with emblematic products like the mollar pomegranate; and industry, one of the traditional pillars of Elche's economic fabric.
The mayor also emphasized the “cordial” tone of the meeting and framed this visit as a turning point for opening new opportunities for the municipality, both in terms of investment and trade. The trip's agenda will continue this Thursday with a presentation of Elche to Chinese entrepreneurs to showcase its economic potential and attract new investments.
