The technical report, which has reviewed the state of the infrastructure since 2016, highlights that the pace of commissioning is insufficient. Currently, only 36% of the route is operational, a figure that has remained stagnant in recent months. According to the report, the main challenge is no longer just starting the work, but completing it and ensuring its effective connection.
Several strategic points, including sections in the Comunitat Valenciana, Murcia, and Andalusia, have seen dates originally set for 2023, 2024, and 2025 pushed back to 2026, 2027, or even later. This situation causes concern in the business sector, which warns about the loss of opportunities to attract investment and strengthen logistics competitiveness.
In the Valencian case, works to transform the third rail between Castellón and Valencia are ongoing, while the access channel to the Valencian capital is scheduled for completion in 2028. At the same time, the movement insists on the need to accelerate the tunnel project to separate passenger and freight traffic.
