The council has made payments exceeding one million euros in recent days, with the total figure expected to reach 1.7 million euros next week. These actions are part of a municipal strategy to reduce payment deadlines and resolve outstanding obligations from the 2025 financial year.
The start of these payments was made possible by the completion of the 2025 budget liquidation by the municipal Intervention services. This procedure allowed for the incorporation of outstanding obligations and legal settlement, fulfilling the commitment made by the local government.
“"We are focused on this priority. We deeply regret that this situation has caused such distortion and difficulties for companies and suppliers of the City Council. We are working to provide a solution to the pending problems and to prevent a similar situation from happening again in the future."
The blockage, which accumulated over 8 million euros in invoices, was caused by a lack of staff in key administrative management areas. To reverse this, a shock plan was launched, including the reorganization of departments, the review of internal protocols, and staff training to simplify future procedures.
For the remaining outstanding obligations, the Municipal Plenary has already approved the necessary budget allocation. Once the public exhibition period is completed and published in the Official Gazette of the Province, the council will be able to address all outstanding payments through an extrajudicial credit recognition.
