The need for coordinated responses against cancer was the focus of the Matching Parc session held on September 25th at the UV Science Park. The event brought together agents from the health, scientific, and business sectors to explore synergies in key areas such as oncological nutrition, diagnosis, therapies, medical imaging, artificial intelligence, nanomedicine, and health transfer.
The event, the third session of the 2026 program, facilitated the meeting of companies, research institutes, health centers, scientific groups, hospitals, technology institutes, and innovation agents with complementary interests in the fight against cancer. The encounter combined brief presentations with spaces for direct dialogue to identify capabilities, needs, and potential collaborations.
The session was supported by the Conselleria d'Indústria, Turisme, Innovació i Comerç and served as a platform to establish new connections between the business area of the UV Science Park, its scientific-academic environment, and other players in the Valencian R&D&I system.
Sara Bañón Escandell, CEO and co-founder of IBIONS, presented the company's work in therapeutic oncological nutrition and digital tools to improve the health and prognosis of cancer patients, highlighting how nutrition can reduce side effects and enhance treatment response.
Julio Madrigal Matute, principal investigator of the Autophagy and Onconutrition Laboratory at the Universitat de València, presented his group's research lines on the role of nutrition in the origin and development of cancer, including autophagy, obesity, and breast cancer.
Javier Vijande Asenjo, professor at the Universitat de València and vice-director of IFIC (CSIC-UV), explained how particle physics technologies, such as AI-driven image analysis and proton therapy, can contribute to the fight against cancer.
Marta Viciano Chumillas, innovation agent at INCLIVA, presented the institute's capabilities in oncological health research, including personalized medicine, advanced therapies, and technology validation in real-world settings.
The event brought together a diversity of entities such as IBIONS, IFIC, INCLIVA, FISABIO, IIS La Fe, ICMol, ITI, among others, covering a broad spectrum of interests including oncological nutrition, radiotherapy, artificial intelligence, and patient quality of life.
Participants highlighted the value of Matching Parc as a space for generating contacts and opening potential collaborations between research, business, and the clinical environment, facilitating knowledge and technology transfer.
Matching Parc is a PCUV initiative that aims to create agile spaces for identifying shared interests and promoting strategic collaborations, reinforcing the Science Park's role as an innovation driver in the Valencian R&D&I system.
