Company Creation in Alicante Province Grows 30% in First Quarter

The Valencian Community records a significant increase in the establishment of new companies, surpassing the national average.

The province of Alicante has registered a 30.17% increase in the constitution of new companies during the first quarter of 2026, with a total of 2,123 businesses, contributing to the overall growth in the Valencian Community.

Across the Valencian Community, the creation of new companies has seen an increase of 38.56%, totaling 5,221 societies. These are distributed as 2,123 in Alicante, 525 in Castellón, and 2,573 in Valencia. These figures contrast with the 9% decrease recorded in the same period last year, when 3,768 companies were created.
Nationally, 39,259 operations were counted from January to March, a 28.3% increase compared to the first quarter of 2025, marking the highest growth in recent quarters. Construction and real estate activities account for a quarter of all new company formations. The Valencian Community ranks as the fourth region with the most company creations, with an increase ten points above the Spanish average.
Regarding changes of registered office, the Valencian Community recorded a positive balance of +15 companies in the first quarter, with 131 arrivals and 116 departures. This is the fourth best balance in Spain, behind Madrid (+55), Basque Country (+20), and the Balearic Islands (+17). Catalonia, in contrast, had a negative balance of -61.
Capital increases have also risen, with 10,081 operations in Spain (a 4% increase) and a disbursement of 7,404 million euros. In the Valencian Community, the 957 increases grew by 1.9%, with Valencia above 9%, while Alicante and Castellón experienced a decline.
However, company dissolutions increased by 6% in Spain, with 12,175 registered. In the Valencian Community, dissolutions rose by 9.7%, reaching 1,183. While Alicante saw a 4.75% decrease, Castellón and Valencia increased their dissolutions by 6.12% and 21.66%, respectively.
Finally, bankruptcy proceedings rebounded in the Valencian Community, with 173 companies affected, an increase of 19.31%. In Spain, bankruptcies decreased by 7%, but in the three Valencian provinces they grew: Alicante with 87 (+19.8%), Castellón with 20 (+100%), and Valencia with 66 (+6.45%).
