The Benidorm City Council has awarded the implementation of a digital platform for the management and communication of climate emergencies, aiming to centralize information and improve response to extreme events.

The Local Government Board of Benidorm approved this Monday the contract award to the offer presented by the company NEO 200 SL. The value of the award amounts to 125,488.63 euros, including VAT, and is part of the 2023 Sustainable Tourism Plan in Destination ‘Green Benidorm’.
This project is part of Axis 3, called ‘Digital Transition’, and is funded by the European Next Generation EU funds. The initiative seeks to provide the city with tools to make it more resilient, capable of preventing and resisting extreme climate events, and recovering more quickly.

"The implementation of this platform for the management and communication of emergencies in Benidorm aims to centralize all information related to the management of extreme climate events in the city on a single digital platform, as well as to have an early warning system for residents and tourists."

The contract execution period is two months, plus an additional two months of support service offered by the awarded company. During this period, a system will be implemented that will allow data acquisition and monitoring, risk assessment, and the identification of vulnerable elements.
Furthermore, the platform will facilitate preparation and response through the activation and automation of emergency protocols, both preventive and reactive, defined for each climate event. All this, to minimize risks and reduce the potential impacts of these events.
In the contracting procedure, awarded through a simplified open procedure, two companies competed. The offer from NEO 200 SL was the most valued by the technicians, obtaining 100 points compared to the 51.48 of the second proposal.
The ‘Green Benidorm’ project is one of twelve included in the 2023 National Tourism Plan and has a total funding of 5,500,000 euros from Next Generation funds. It foresees the execution of 16 actions to achieve a more sustainable and digital Benidorm, advancing in energy efficiency and the fight against climate change, and protecting the territory. It is structured around four axes: Green Transition, Improvement of Energy Efficiency, Digital Transition, and Competitiveness.
