The new entity, with a supramunicipal scope, is open to new companies and organizations committed to the economic development of Baix Maestrat. The association aims to strengthen business cooperation and drive strategic initiatives for the territory.
The event, held in collaboration with the Provincial Council of Castellón and the City Council of Benicarló, brought together institutional representatives and socioeconomic agents. The conclusions of the study "The Baix Maestrat region: territorial diagnosis and proposals", prepared by the Jaume I University (UJI) and BMI, were presented.
The mayor of Benicarló, Juanma Cerdá, highlighted the importance of collaboration in facing major challenges, while the president of the Provincial Council, Marta Barrachina, emphasized the study as a "roadmap" for the region's future, valuing its "diverse and resilient economy".
Xavier Molina, professor at UJI, and Alfredo Roé, initiator of the project, presented the study's findings, which propose over 300 initiatives in areas such as competitiveness, employment, and training.
The president of BMI, Francisco Gil, stressed the association's ambition to be "very numerous" and called for the collaboration of all entrepreneurs. The vice-president, Victoriano Prim, added that BMI is established to defend business interests and contribute to regional development.
The event concluded with a panel discussion on the challenges and future opportunities for Baix Maestrat, featuring Nerea Safont, Julio Delgado, Francisco Gil, and Victoriano Prim. The need to strengthen collaboration between administrations, companies, and social agents was emphasized.
The Director General of Industry, Julio Delgado, advocated for the importance of business associations and conveyed the firm support of the Generalitat Valenciana to Baix Maestrat Impulsa.
Currently, the association comprises Grupo Gil Comes, Benimar-Ocarsa, Grupo Azor, BDM Consultores, Grupo Industrial Alespri, Transfer Agencia de Empleo, Caixa Vinaròs, and Caixa Benicarló. The presidency is held by Francisco Gil (Grupo Gil Comes) and the vice-presidency by Victoriano Prim (Grupo Industrial Alespri).
