Construction work on the new access road to the Santiago Payá-Sant Benet industrial estates in Alcoy is experiencing disruptions due to a landslip on the slope where operations are underway. This situation has caused a temporary suspension of work until the issue is resolved and tasks can resume.
The government board meeting this Thursday will address the temporary suspension of the works' deadline. The halt occurred at the end of April, and the awarded company estimated that the problem could be resolved in approximately two and a half months. Winter and early spring rains caused earth movement, which indicated that minimum parameters for continuing the work were not being met.
The works, which include excavation tasks, are planned to incorporate technical measures to improve solutions in an area with historically unstable terrain. It is worth remembering that these works, which began last September after a 13-year wait, aim to provide access to two industrial zones comprising over 30 companies.
The project, awarded to Pavasal Empresa Constructora SAU for 2,262,248.34 euros (VAT included), is funded by municipal, regional (Ivace), and provincial sources. The proposed definitive solution includes the removal of the existing bridge, stabilization of the slope with a rockfill wall, and the construction of the new road above it.
The councillor for Industry, Elisa Guillem, has emphasized the importance of this new road for providing solutions to local businesses, ensuring their development and job security, and attracting new companies.
