This project, already the largest in terms of surface area and power in the region, is located in the orchard area between the urban center and the Albatera mountain range. It covers more than 67,000 square meters and features over six thousand one hundred large panels, with a generation capacity of 3.1 megawatts and an estimated annual production of 5.1 million kW/h.
The commissioning of this solar farm, named "Manuel Serna Serna" in honor of the cooperative's vice president for 25 years, will supply electricity to the homes of more than five thousand members, providing a service to half of the municipality's 15,000 inhabitants.
“"This project is simply the result of the joint work of our members, of the silent and constant effort that characterizes this cooperative, which has managed to carry out a large-scale initiative."
During the inauguration, the president of the Generalitat emphasized the importance of energy self-sufficiency, stating that "the more you depend on yourself in energy matters, the fewer problems you will have, especially economic ones." He also advocated for an energy model that combines renewable sources with the supply guarantee offered by nuclear production.
The president of the Generalitat congratulated the cooperative for its innovation and assured that the regional executive is working to simplify administrative procedures. He reported that, thanks to regulatory simplification, this type of installation has multiplied by 20, reducing waiting times from ten years to just a few months.
The Albatera solar plant represents a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions into the atmosphere and will result in an estimated annual saving of 500,000 euros for all members, symbolizing the cooperative's commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.
