The Ministry of Industry is processing the construction of the new Granadina Transformer Substation and its associated connection line, with an investment of 8.59 million euros to reinforce the electricity supply in the region.

This project, promoted by the company I-DE Redes Eléctricas Inteligentes (Iberdrola), represents a significant deployment for the improvement of energy infrastructure in the area. The total investment amounts to 8,597,843.39 euros and will involve the expropriation of 36 properties.
The new substation will be physically located in the municipality of San Isidro, specifically in the El Saladar area. This facility will feature state-of-the-art technology, including two 40 MVA power transformers and four medium-voltage cell modules to distribute energy at 20 kV to nearby industrial and residential centers. Of the 8.6 million, 8 million euros will be allocated to the substation and the remaining 500,000 euros to the power line.
Although the substation is located in San Isidro, the route of the high-voltage power line (132 kV) also extends through the municipality of Crevillent, covering a route that mainly affects the area known as Los Zanjones. Along its route, the line will cross various agricultural and environmental areas, such as the Vereda de Orihuela and the Acequia de las Ramblas in Crevillent, as well as the Patricio, Convenio, and Riacho irrigation channels in San Isidro. The infrastructure will also fly over areas such as El Canalillo and the Camino del Palmeral, mainly affecting irrigated farmland and fruit trees.
One of the key points of the project is its integration into the regional network. The new infrastructure is not an isolated island but has been designed as an "entry and exit" for the existing Rocamora-Elche Sur line. This means that even though the physical works are not carried out in the municipality of Elche, the energy flowing to Elche Sur will be optimized and reinforced by the ST Granadina. This technical maneuver guarantees greater stability in the supply for the southern area of Elche and its industrial areas, improving the network's response capacity to demand peaks.
