Data managed by the Alcoy City Council, based on figures from Suma Gestión Tributaria related to economic activities, indicates that last year up to 654 businesses exceeded one million euros in invoicing. This volume represents 17.4% of the total of 3,765 companies located in the city, according to the INE for the same period.
Available invoicing data from recent years shows progressive growth. In 2022, 549 businesses surpassed one million euros, while last year the figure rose to 654. This represents an increase of 105 firms, a growth of 19.1% over three years. In 2023, the number of companies with this business volume was 598, and a year later, 646.
This increase led to a 3.4 percentage point rise last year compared to 2022, when companies with turnover exceeding one million represented 14% of a total of 3,904. Regarding the total number of businesses in Alcoy, a recovery began in 2024 and consolidated last year, following a post-pandemic decrease that bottomed out in 2023 with 3,665 firms.
Of the total existing companies last year, 313 are manufacturing industries, accounting for 8.3%. In comparison, in 2012, the first year of the series available from the INE, this sector represented 11.5%, with 429 industries out of 3,720 companies. The number of industries has fluctuated during this period, reaching its lowest point in 2024 with 312, and stabilizing a year later with one additional firm.
