The People's Party has alerted to the delicate economic situation of the Municipal Institute for Employment and Economic Promotion (IMEPE) in Alcorcón. According to the PP, a recent audit has cast doubt on the accuracy of its accounts, and the municipal treasury itself has even proposed the dissolution of the organization.
Among the deficiencies identified by the auditor are an outdated inventory, inadequate accounting records, pending payments without justification, and serious weaknesses in internal control. The auditor has been unable to confirm that the presented accounts offer a true and fair view of the organization.
Given these circumstances, the municipal treasury has considered that dissolving IMEPE as an autonomous body and integrating its functions into the City Council could be the most viable option to ensure the continuity of services and the efficient management of public funds.
The president and spokesperson for the PP, Roberto Marín Vergara, has described the situation as unsustainable, criticizing the lack of control and planning that, in his opinion, affects IMEPE's accounts, which cannot be endorsed by the auditor.
For her part, the mayor, Candelaria Testa, has defended the work carried out at IMEPE since 2019, highlighting the decrease in unemployment in the city and the good communication with the social and economic fabric. She downplayed the audit, stating that the organization's accounts are sound and that Alcorcón is outside of financial risk and the supervision of Aire.
