According to the 2025 Survey on Equipment and Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Households, prepared by the General Directorate of Economy and Industry of the Community of Madrid, mobile phone ownership among minors aged 10 to 15 has reached 67.8%. This percentage is notably higher among girls, at 71.8%, seven points above the 64.1% for boys.
The study also highlights an increase in computer use by this age group, rising from 96.4% in 2024 to 97% in 2025. Girls show an even higher usage rate, reaching 98.5%, while boys are at 95.6%.
Regarding the general population aged 16 to 74, Internet use in the last three months has seen a slight increase of 0.3% compared to 2024, with 94.2% of daily users, representing a 0.7% growth.
“"The most common activities were using instant messaging services, such as WhatsApp (98.8% compared to 97% in 2024), receiving or sending emails (89.1% compared to 91% in 2024), and making calls or video calls over the Internet (82.9%, remaining stable compared to 2024)."
Furthermore, 44.3% of respondents have used some form of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). Regarding digital skills, 73.3% possess basic or advanced skills, the same percentage as in 2023.
The report concludes that 87.3% of the population who have used the Internet in the last 12 months have interacted with public administrations or services online for personal reasons, which represents an increase of 1.5 points compared to the previous year.
