According to data from the Active Population Survey (EPA) for the second quarter, the regional labor market has added 62,100 new employed people. This growth is accompanied by an improvement in job quality, as 88.5% of employees have an indefinite contract, 3.6 points above the national average.
The number of unemployed people in Madrid has seen a 2.9% decrease, standing at 297,900. This figure represents the lowest level for a second quarter since 2008, with an unemployment rate of 7.6%, significantly lower than the 9.9% recorded nationwide.
Regarding youth unemployment, the rate has dropped to 19.8%, four points below the Spain average. Likewise, female unemployment has decreased to 8.6%, maintaining a favorable difference of 2.4 points compared to the national data.
The active population in the region has increased by 53,300 people, reaching a total of 3,939,100. With these results, the Community of Madrid contributes nearly one out of every five new active workers in the country, consolidating an activity rate of 63.9%.
