Within the framework of World Entrepreneurship Day, municipal spokesperson Inma Sanz stated that Madrid is positioned as “the best city to undertake”. This declaration comes as the public initiative Madrid Emprende, dedicated to facilitating the creation of startups and companies, commemorates two decades of activity.
“"Madrid has an increasingly diverse, innovative, and demanding entrepreneurial ecosystem."
Sanz underscored the strategic importance of entrepreneurship for the Madrilenian economy, emphasizing that the city “supports, promotes, and celebrates entrepreneurial talent”. According to the Deputy Mayor, each new project represents an opportunity to generate economic and social value in the capital.
The Madrid Emprende program offers support to entrepreneurs in the different development phases of their projects, thus contributing to the strengthening of the economic fabric and the creation of jobs. To this end, it has the Single Window for Entrepreneurship and a network of incubators distributed in districts such as Carabanchel, Moratalaz, Puente de Vallecas, San Blas, Vicálvaro, and Villaverde. Additionally, it features the Madrid Food Innovation Hub, specialized in the agri-food sector.
The network of municipal incubators maintains an occupancy rate close to 100% in both offices and coworking spaces. Currently, more than 110 companies and over 50 entrepreneurs benefit from these municipal facilities, marking the best figures since 2015. Sanz described the City Council as “a benchmark in supporting entrepreneurs”.
In recent years, the City Council has implemented administrative simplification measures to streamline business creation. The incorporation of a company through municipal services can be completed in approximately two days, while the allocation of spaces in incubators is resolved in just two weeks.
