The Ramón y Cajal University Hospital Biomedical Research Foundation (FIBioHRC) and the Mobile World Capital Barcelona Foundation (MWCapital) have signed a Framework Collaboration Agreement to strengthen technological transfer opportunities and accelerate the impact of biomedical research.

The agreement was signed by the director of FIBioHRC, Dr. Laura Barreales Tolosa, and the CEO of MWCapital Barcelona, Laia Corbella Amorós, consolidating a strategic alliance committed to innovation, technological development, and the creation of solutions with an impact on people's health.
The collaboration stems from a shared vision to drive knowledge-based innovation and facilitate the market entry of transformative technologies. MWCapital Barcelona, through its Tech Transfer area and the renowned The Collider program, acts as a catalyst for turning research results into high-impact business initiatives, particularly in the deep tech field. IRYCIS, an accredited Health Research Institute, is committed to valorizing biomedical research and transferring knowledge for clinical applications.
Key collaboration areas include the participation of IRYCIS innovative projects in The Collider program, joint identification of tech transfer opportunities, co-creation initiatives with the tech and pharmaceutical industry, and support for generating new science-based companies. Currently, two IRYCIS Misión 2030 projects, ULISSES DS (led by Dr. Pablo Valderrábano) and BraidStent (led by Dr. Federico Soria), are already supported by The Collider.
Both entities will explore mechanisms to connect technologies developed at IRYCIS with the entrepreneurial and investor ecosystem driven by MWCapital, and vice versa. The agreement also includes the potential incorporation of IRYCIS innovation portfolio technologies into the National Tech Radar project, an MWCapital initiative to map emerging technologies and foster connections between research centers, companies, and investors.
Joint participation in national and international calls related to technology transfer and scientific entrepreneurship will be encouraged. Through this agreement, IRYCIS and MWCapital Barcelona reinforce their commitment to open innovation and the development of technological solutions to real health challenges.
