AEDHE issued a statement highlighting that, after nearly 48 hours of incidents, the situation is severely compromising the activity of businesses, shops, and hospitality establishments. The organization emphasizes that water is an essential resource, and its absence creates a scenario of uncertainty and harm that demands immediate resolution.
After almost 48 hours of incidents, the situation is seriously compromising the activity of our companies, shops and hospitality establishments.
The business association has quantified industry losses as “millionaire” due to the “forced halt of production in our industrial zones.” This interruption not only impacts invoicing but also “large-scale contractual and logistical commitments.” Furthermore, it warns of “operational difficulty and activity closure,” as many companies face “severe technical and sanitary limitations,” in some cases leading to “total cessation of operations.”
Although AEDHE values the emergency measures activated, it urges the Mancomunidad de Aguas del Sorbe to prioritize the full restoration of service. They believe that an area with high industrial density cannot afford to wait without rigorous technical foresight.
Likewise, the organization considers a thorough analysis of the cause of the breakdown to be “essential” and demands that the competent authorities “urgently adopt the necessary measures to ensure that this situation does not recur.” This includes a reinforced maintenance plan and an exhaustive review of critical points in the network.
Finally, the association has initiated a process of collecting information and assessing damages among its members. The objective is to provide competent bodies with a real and professional view of the economic consequences of this breakdown, seeking accountability and appropriate compensation for the damages caused. AEDHE reiterates its commitment to offering advice and support to all affected businesses and self-employed individuals.
