ESMASA has revalidated its commitment to the environment by obtaining, for the second consecutive year, the highest distinction of three Blue Pajaritas. This prestigious award, granted by the Spanish Association of Pulp, Paper and Cardboard Manufacturers (ASPAPEL) and the Spanish Association of Paper and Cardboard Recyclers (REPACAR), highlights the good practices of the municipal company and the City Council of Alcorcón in waste management.
The president of ESMASA, Raquel Rodríguez, expressed her satisfaction: “For us, it is a great privilege to receive three Blue Pajaritas again this year. Both our citizens and our teams are highly involved in the correct separation of waste, and the data clearly shows this. We want to build the best possible city, and a key pillar to achieve this is to recycle well.” The award ceremony took place on May 27th at the El Beatriz Auditorium.
This marks the third time in the last four years that ESMASA and the Alcorcón City Council have achieved this distinction, rigorously surpassing the 21 indicators that evaluate aspects such as selective collection, awareness campaigns, route management, and traceability to final recycling.
During the year 2025, 5,004 tons of paper and cardboard were recycled in Alcorcón, representing an increase of 3.48% compared to the previous year. ESMASA and the City Council have been recognized in these awards on six occasions since 2017, with the first time they achieved three Blue Pajaritas being in 2023, a milestone that has been repeated in 2025 and 2026.
