The electric mobility company informed its users of the “difficult decision” to terminate its free-floating carsharing service in Madrid. This announcement, also posted on its website, marks the end of a phase that began in late 2017.

Since its arrival in Madrid, during a boom in shared electric mobility, the company has recorded over ten million trips and amassed a user base of 800,000 in the capital. The company, part of the Renault group and also operating in Paris, Lyon, and Milan, highlights that its presence in Madrid has helped prevent the emission of 9,000 tons of CO2.
Zity's departure signifies the loss of a major player in Madrid's free-floating carsharing market. While other options like Free2move, Voltio, Wible, and Guppy remain, no significant new entrants have joined the sector. This cessation follows the disappearance of electric scooter rentals over a year ago, after the Madrid City Council revoked their operating permits.
