The hotel sector in Alcalá de Henares experienced a 15.49% increase in overnight stays during the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year.

According to data released by the National Statistics Institute, the city recorded a total of 107,119 stays between January and March. Of this total, 65,040 were domestic travelers and 41,179 were international visitors, confirming an upward trend in local tourism activity.
The breakdown of the figures shows positive performance in both segments. While domestic tourism recorded an increase of 11.97%, the international market showed greater dynamism, with a 21.60% rise. The most significant source markets for the city remain Portugal, Italy, France, and the United States.

"We are very satisfied with these growing figures, not only because the commitment to the best possible service in hotels has paid off, but also due to the successful development of the tourism strategies we have implemented."

Local authorities attribute these results to the combination of cultural tourism offerings and the growth of MICE tourism. They also highlight the importance of promoting the city as a World Heritage Site and the institutional collaboration with the General Directorate of Tourism of the Community of Madrid to attract visitors during months that traditionally saw lower interest.
