The L'Horta Sud region concluded March 2026 with a 4.3% reduction in unemployment compared to the previous year, solidifying a recovery trend primarily driven by the industrial and logistics sectors.

This overall improvement, reflected in a decrease in youth unemployment, nonetheless presents an uneven landscape across different municipalities and job seeker profiles. A comparison with March 2025 data indicates that the metropolitan belt of Valencia has absorbed a significant portion of its unemployment, thanks to the dynamism of its industrial estates and the momentum of the logistics sector.
Torrent, the regional capital, has managed to reduce its number of unemployed by 4.2% over the past year. Despite this positive figure, a detailed analysis reveals that male unemployment decreased by 5%, while female unemployment progressed more slowly, at 3.5%. This means women still account for nearly six out of ten unemployed individuals in the city. The most positive news for Torrent is the 8% drop in unemployment among those under 25 years old, contrasting sharply with the situation of those over 55 years old, who have seen barely a 1% decrease.
In contrast, Mislata has experienced a more stagnant labor market, with unemployment falling by only 0.8% compared to March 2025. This locality, highly dependent on the service and hospitality sectors, has one of the highest feminization rates of unemployment in the area, with 62% of women actively seeking employment without success. Meanwhile, Aldaia and Alaquàs have shown a much more dynamic scenario, capitalizing on the full recovery of their industrial and commercial activity. Aldaia recorded one of the best year-on-year evolutions with a 5.5% drop in unemployment, especially driven by the logistics and light industry sectors, while Alaquàs saw a 4.9% decrease, with unprecedented youth insertion reducing unemployment for those under 25 years old by 10%.
The axis formed by Manises and Quart de Poblet has solidified as a key driver for hiring in transport and distribution. Manises leads the regional recovery with a 6.1% decrease in the number of unemployed, linked to airport activity. Quart de Poblet follows a similar path with a 5.8% decrease, although a gender gap is observed, with a more intense reduction in unemployment among men. Regionally, the industrial sector is the most robust with a 6.5% decrease, benefiting municipalities with strong industrial parks like Silla or Catarroja, while construction and the group of people without prior employment show less improvement.
The reduction in youth unemployment is a clear success, but the labor market appears to be overlooking those over 52 years old, who now account for almost half of the region's unemployed. The challenge for the coming months will be to ensure that this recovery, which has strongly impacted factories and logistics centers, also reaches women and long-term workers with the same intensity, guaranteeing inclusive economic growth for all residents of L'Horta Sud.
