According to data from the employers' association Aehcos, the destination showed a "positive performance" between March 27 and April 6. This increase represents 2.67 percentage points more than Easter Week 2025, which took place from April 13 to 20. The "key" days, from Thursday, April 2 to Monday, April 6, reached 85.26% occupancy, confirming high demand concentrated on the holidays.
The sub-delegate of the Government, Javier Salas, described Easter Week as a "success for the tourism sector," emphasizing both the influx and security. Salas criticized the "catastrophic" stance of some members of the Junta de Andalucía, such as the Minister of Tourism, the Minister of Economy, or President Moreno Bonilla, regarding the AVE train service disruption between Málaga and Antequera, urging them to "have more respect for the truth and manipulate the population less."
The areas with the highest occupancy, according to Aehcos, were Benalmádena (90.3%), followed by the Eastern Coast–Axarquía (86.67%), Torremolinos (85.85%), Mijas (84.9%), and Málaga–Rincón de la Victoria (84.5%). All these destinations were characterized by strong international demand.
“"We expected fewer people than came, but people came by car, by train, by plane. It's true that fewer Spaniards moved around than in other years, but we saw many foreigners. Billing was the same as last year, in some cases it improved."
International tourism accounted for 77.95% of visitors, compared to 22.05% national. The domestic market showed more contained behavior, influenced by external factors such as the railway connectivity situation. In March as a whole, the average occupancy was 78%, exceeding the same month in 2025 by five points, a trend reinforced by the diversity of hotel offerings and the presence of international tourists.
The employers' association positively valued last-minute demand, which helped reverse initial estimates of 73.9% average occupancy. Good weather was also a decisive factor, according to Villafaina and Aehcos. The president of Aehcos, José Luque, indicated that they are "very attentive" to the evolution of the national market in the coming months and highlighted the importance of improving connectivity, especially high-speed rail.
