The ports of Ferrol and San Cibrao maintained a positive trend in cargo traffic during the first nine months of the year, exceeding 5.3 million tons and recording a 3.26% growth compared to the same period in 2025.

The Port Authority of Ferrol-San Cibrao handled a total of 5,296,854 tons in its docks between January and September 2026, compared to 5,129,492 tons in the same period of the previous year. This increase of 167,362 tons represents a 3.26% growth, allowing for a positive trend amidst international uncertainty affecting maritime transport.
Growth is particularly significant in liquid bulk cargo, with a 31.52% increase. 2,298,296 tons were moved between January and September 2026, compared to 1,747,493 tons the previous year, an increase of 550,803 tons. Natural gas and fuel oil were the main traffics in this segment.
This rise in liquid cargo helps offset the decrease recorded in solid bulk, which fell by 12.57%, totaling 2,322,455 tons. General merchandise also saw a decline, reaching 676,102 tons compared to 725,586 tons in the same period of 2025. Geopolitical tensions particularly affect this traffic segment, including containerized cargo, with the Yilport terminal handling 8,093 TEUs (104,843 tons) by September 30.
