The Councilor for Education, Technological Training, and Innovation, Juan Ignacio Borrego, presented the European project Allocate today at the Cidade das TIC. The meeting was held with an international delegation participating in the Reverse Mission "GovTech: innovation, security, and cooperation", organized by the Clúster TIC Galicia to showcase the Galician technological ecosystem and foster new cooperation opportunities.
During the meeting, Borrego conveyed to the delegation members A Coruña's vision for the development of artificial intelligence. He emphasized the need to leverage the city's existing technological and knowledge capabilities to generate local innovation, improve public services, and create opportunities for the business sector.
"This vision aligns with the municipal commitment to the continuous improvement of public policies and services and to generating future opportunities and social and economic progress. These are objectives we all share, and we must find new ways to achieve them," stated Borrego.
In this context, the councilor presented Allocate as an initiative that allows this city vision to be translated into concrete actions, through collaboration between administrations, universities, and companies, and the development of infrastructure, knowledge, and artificial intelligence applications linked to urban needs.
The Reverse Mission brings together profiles related to the digital transformation of administrations, innovation policies, and the development of technological infrastructure and services. The delegation includes representatives from entities such as the National Office of Information Technologies of Argentina and the Presidential Commission for Open and Electronic Government of Guatemala, as well as Agesic and Uruguay Innova.
The European project Allocate, with an investment of 5.5 million euros (4.4 million from community funds and 1.1 million from municipal contribution), aims to connect administrations, universities, and ICT companies; create a local computing and data environment to facilitate the development of artificial intelligence solutions by SMEs; and generate capabilities through training in green and ethical AI.
The project plans to work with urban data, computing infrastructure, and specialized training to drive artificial intelligence solutions applied to challenges in mobility, waste management, and citizen services, combining the perspectives of Green by AI, Green in AI, and Ethical AI.
