Basque Industrial Production Rose 1.9% in April, Ending Four Months of Decline

Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa saw increases, while Araba experienced a decrease, according to Eustat data.

Basque industrial production increased by 1.9% in April compared to the same month last year, marking an end to four consecutive months of decline, as reported by the Basque Institute of Statistics (Eustat).

Results varied across territories: Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa saw production rise by 3.8% and 3.2% respectively compared to April 2025. In contrast, Araba experienced a 4.2% decrease.
On a month-on-month basis, comparing with March, the industrial production index in Euskadi also rose by 3.8%.
By economic destination of goods, the production of consumer goods recorded a 3.0% year-on-year increase in April. This rise is attributed to both the evolution of durable consumer goods, with a 2.7% increase, and non-durable consumer goods, up by 3.0%.
The production of capital goods, which includes the manufacturing of motor vehicles, railway equipment, and aeronautical or naval construction, increased by 6.2% compared to April of the previous year.
For intermediate goods, encompassing metallurgy, chemical industry, and rubber and plastic product manufacturing, production decreased by 0.8% year-on-year.
Lastly, energy production in April was 0.9% lower than in the same month of the previous year, covering the production and supply of electricity and oil refining.
