Housing Sales in Euskadi Grow 8.8% in April

The Basque Country achieves one of its best historical figures in property sales, surpassing the national average.

Housing sales in Euskadi have seen an 8.8% increase in April compared to the same month last year, contrasting with a national decline.

A total of 1,947 housing sales transactions were completed in Euskadi during April, marking the second-best figure for this index in an April month in its historical series. This result moves the autonomous community out of negative rates, although a 9% decrease is observed when compared to the previous month.
Of these transactions, 977 were registered in Bizkaia, 667 in Gipuzkoa, and the remaining 303 in Araba. Of the total, 1,809 corresponded to free housing and 138 to protected housing (VPO). Regarding age, 333 transactions were for new homes, and 1,614 involved used properties.
In total, 3,421 housing operations were carried out in April: 1,744 in Bizkaia, 1,197 in Gipuzkoa, and 480 in Araba. In addition to sales, there were 966 inheritances, 31 donations, and 3 exchanges.
Regarding the transfer of urban properties, 6,654 were recorded, including 3,914 sales, 1,721 inheritances, 89 donations, 4 exchanges, and 926 other types of operations. For rural properties, there were 657 transfers, comprising 239 inheritances and 242 sales.
Nationally, Cantabria led the year-on-year growth in housing sales in April with a 22.53% increase, followed by Euskadi (8.8%) and Catalonia (+7.79%). Navarra, Madrid, and Castilla y León experienced the largest declines.
