Iberdrola commemorated its 125th anniversary in Bilbao, focusing on its industrial journey in Euskadi and its growth into a leading global energy company.

Iberdrola celebrated its 125-year history today in Bilbao, honoring the individuals and institutions that have contributed to the company's trajectory since its origins in Euskadi. The institutional event was attended by Lehendakari Imanol Pradales, and served to highlight the company's roots in the region and its evolution into one of the world's foremost energy companies.
The Lehendakari acknowledged and thanked the work of both José Ignacio Berroeta, a deceased counselor of the Basque company, and the current Chairman of Iberdrola Group, Ignacio Sánchez Galán, for their efforts to make Iberdrola a leading company in Euskadi and an example of public-private collaboration. Thus, Imanol Pradales encouraged Iberdrola Group to jointly seize future opportunities.

"Iberdrola is a child of the first Basque industrialization. And, 125 years later, it is a key piece for undertaking the Basque and European industrial and technological rebirth, which are again demanding sufficient, secure, and competitive energy, as our progress and future will largely depend on it."

The Lehendakari added that "we agree on the commitment to a state regulatory framework that incentivizes investment in electricity grids, and leverages the economic and fiscal tools offered by the EU. We are playing for the present and future of our employment and industrial activity, and the possibility of new projects arriving in Euskadi".
During the event, a commemorative book was presented, tracing Iberdrola's past, present, and future outlook in the so-called 'electricity era,' a concept used by the International Energy Agency to define the current process of economic electrification and global energy transition.
