Basque Trade & Investment is currently hosting three international delegations in Euskadi to foster knowledge exchange, strengthen cooperation ties, and create new opportunities. Representatives from the Chamber of Commerce of Carinthia, the Łukasiewicz – ITECH Institute of Innovation and Technology, and the Regional Government of Lower Silesia, along with the Korea Wind Energy Industry Association (KWEIA), are undertaking various work programs. These visits allow them to gain firsthand knowledge of Euskadi's capabilities, policies, projects, and key players through meetings with institutional representatives, companies, and specialized organizations.
The delegation from Carinthia, led by Jürgen Mandl, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Carinthia, aims to explore Euskadi's capabilities and identify cooperation and investment opportunities, with a particular focus on digitalization, Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, sustainable mobility, and the aerospace sector. The program includes meetings with Basque Trade & Investment and SPRI, as well as familiarization with initiatives from GAIA and CYBASQUE. Visits to TECNALIA, the Advanced Aeronautical Manufacturing Centre (CFAA), and MUBIL are also scheduled.
Meanwhile, representatives from the Łukasiewicz – ITECH Institute of Innovation and Technology and the Regional Government of Lower Silesia are visiting Euskadi as part of the Innovative Lower Silesia project. The objective is to understand Euskadi's innovation model and its ecosystem for research, technological development, and knowledge transfer. The program includes meetings with Basque Trade & Investment and SPRI, as well as encounters with GAIA, the Basque Technology Park, Innobasque, BIC Bizkaia, and Tecnalia, covering topics such as entrepreneurship, applied research, technology transfer, and digitalization.
The visit from Lower Silesia is part of the economic relations between Euskadi and Poland. Basque exports to Poland amounted to 573 million euros in the first seven months of 2026, a 14% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Currently, 40 Basque companies have 52 establishments in Poland.
Adding to these two missions is the visit from the Korea Wind Energy Industry Association (KWEIA), accompanied by six journalists from leading South Korean economic media outlets. The delegation will explore Euskadi's business and technological ecosystem related to wind energy, as well as its capabilities in energy transition and offshore wind power. During this visit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed between KWEIA and Basque Trade & Investment to strengthen ties between the two ecosystems and explore new cooperation opportunities. The program also includes visits to Basque companies to understand the development of a comprehensive and competitive wind energy value chain.
Through these three initiatives, Basque Trade & Investment reinforces its international outreach efforts and brings the Basque ecosystem closer to markets and regions of strategic interest. Direct engagement with business and institutional delegations facilitates knowledge sharing, the creation of new relationships, and the promotion of cooperation opportunities that will enhance Euskadi's international projection.
