A delegation led by the KRG's representative in Spain, Darawan Haji Hamid, visited Gipuzkoa to understand the local business landscape and explore potential collaboration opportunities. The meeting took place at the Chamber of Gipuzkoa.
The autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan has a population of over 6 million inhabitants and maintains a significant international presence, including with countries like France, Germany, and the United States. It also secures funding for project development through European and American programs.
During the meeting, the region's key economic strengths were presented, particularly in sectors such as Oil & Gas, agriculture, tourism, and digitalization. Areas of interest for Gipuzkoan companies were also discussed.
In this context, the Chamber of Gipuzkoa plans to sign a cooperation agreement with the Chambers of Commerce of Iraqi Kurdistan. This agreement will establish a framework for information exchange, identification of common interests, and exploration of future cooperation opportunities.
The agreement will serve as a first step towards deepening the understanding of this market and facilitating future relationships between businesses and economic agents from Gipuzkoa and Iraqi Kurdistan.
