Barakaldo has presented a disruptive proposal by Berritzea 7R Tech at Innpulso Emprende 2026, focusing on modernizing LED luminaires through circular economy principles.

Barakaldo has showcased its disruptive proposal at the Innpulso Emprende 2026 event, presented by the company Berritzea 7R Tech. This initiative aims to modernize LED luminaires by reusing existing equipment, adhering to circular economy principles. The goal is to extend the lifespan of installations, reduce waste, and improve energy efficiency.
The event, which annually gathers mayors from the Network of Cities of Science and Innovation along with the most innovative local SMEs and startups, celebrated its ninth edition in Terrassa under the theme “Where Innovation Connects”. Amaia del Campo, the mayor of Barakaldo, participated in this meeting with an "open mind to identify new opportunities and, above all, to showcase initiatives that can contribute to improving citizens' lives".
Javier Royo González, CEO of Berritzea 7R Tech, explained that the company "takes nets from the sea, transforms them into pellets, transforms the pellets into filament, and that filament is incorporated into the luminaire". This way, "it is avoided that luminaires that are to be retired end up in landfill, and a second use is ensured for them".
The Innpulso Emprende 2026 edition, held in Terrassa, brought together representatives from 53 municipalities belonging to the Innpulso Network, as well as project managers of innovative initiatives. This year, the focus was placed on the importance of connection as a driver for activating local talent and projecting it towards the Innpulso Network.
