Data from the Intersectoral Council of Employers (Ciesc) indicates that, compared to the same period last year, 2,880 jobs have been added. Of these, 1,340 are salaried employees and 200 are self-employed, raising the year-on-year figures to 2,565 salaried workers and 315 self-employed, respectively.
The quarterly increase was particularly concentrated in the services sector, which incorporated 1,020 jobs, with commerce standing out with almost 500 new hires. Construction also showed notable dynamism, increasing by 7.53% in just three months, rising from 5,245 to 5,640 jobs.
In the year-on-year comparison with the second quarter of 2025, services are confirmed as the main driver of employment in Sabadell, with a gain of 2,530 jobs. Industry added 200, and construction, 145.
Currently, services account for 83.09% of the city's total jobs, followed by industry (9.91%) and construction (6.92%). Agriculture has a residual weight (0.07%). Of the nearly 68,000 jobs in the services sector, metallurgy leads industry with 3,600 employees, while food, textiles, paper, and graphic arts combined total 2,910.
This positive trend extends to the entire Vallès Occidental region, which gained 6,200 jobs in the second quarter of 2026, reaching a total of 608,885. The year-on-year increase is 16,600 jobs (2.80%).
By sector in the region, services led year-on-year growth with over 13,000 workers, followed by industry (2,245) and construction (1,185). Quarterly, services added 2,665 jobs, construction 2,215, and industry 1,290. Agriculture saw 30 new quarterly incorporations and 55 annually.
In Vallès Occidental, services represent 70.80% of total employment, industry 21.81%, construction 7.19%, and agriculture 0.20%.
