Port Tarragona and AECOC have organized a workshop with a dozen consumer goods companies to define the logistical needs of the future Guadalajara-Marchamalo intermodal terminal, which aims to strengthen the commitment to rail transport.

The working session, titled “Intermodal Transport Plan for Mass Consumption: The Value Proposition of Port Tarragona Terminal Guadalajara-Marchamalo,” served to gain firsthand insight into the logistical requirements of this new infrastructure. The contributions collected during the session will be used to define the tender specifications for the terminal's future management.
During the meeting, the project's status was shared, and the infrastructure's capabilities and services were contrasted with the perspectives of operators and future users. AECOC presented the operational, economic, and sustainable key aspects of the 2026 Intermodal Transport Plan for mass consumption, emphasizing companies' desire to invest in rail transport to decarbonize their logistics, provided reliability and frequency are guaranteed.
The president of Port Tarragona, Santiago J. Castellà, presented the current status of the terminal, whose works are now completed after an investment of 30 million euros. The infrastructure covers 150,000 m² and is equipped for 750-meter-long trains, positioning it as a key element in the Port's intermodal strategy.
