Montblanc Mayor Marc Vinya has confirmed the resumption of talks with the company Ponentia for the development of an industrial logistics park with a railway terminal, a project that could exceed 100 million euros.

Conversations between the Montblanc City Council and the company Ponentia regarding the industrial logistics park with a railway terminal project have resumed after months of inactivity. Mayor Marc Vinya told ACN that recent meetings have taken place, also involving the Espluga de Francolí City Council, and that the company expresses interest.
Despite the dialogue's restart, Vinya has expressed skepticism about the project's viability, pointing to difficulties in urban planning procedures and a lack of consistent contact with the company. "We don't see it very clearly that this can become a reality," he admitted, recalling the complexities also faced by Bon Preu's logistics center in the LOGIS Montblanc industrial park.
Ponentia announced last April its intention to invest over 100 million euros to build a 110-hectare park. The project aimed to attract high value-added companies, such as data centers, but the land's electrical capacity could be an obstacle. Furthermore, the citizen platform En Peu de Terra has called for the project's immediate halt, labeling it "speculative" and denouncing a "lack of transparency."
The mayor expressed hope for "more information and greater proximity" from Ponentia and assured that the council is open to receiving new proposals. The project, initially "stalled" in early April, was the subject of a later company statement asserting continued work, although the formalization of land purchases has reportedly not yet occurred.
