Non-life insurance amounted to 143.6 million euros, while life insurance contributed 17.6 million. These figures come from the annual report of the Department of Economy and Finance, which analyzes information from supervised brokers and brokerage firms.
In Girona, there were 114 active insurance intermediaries last year, representing 24.5% of the Catalan total. At the Catalan level, the volume of intermediated premiums reached 850.9 million euros.
Business concentration is notable in Girona: 11 out of 114 operators exceeded three million euros in premiums, managing 45.89% of the total volume in the province. More than half of Girona's operators do not reach one million euros in intermediated premiums.
Within non-life insurance, vehicles were the main sector, with 51.03 million euros intermediated, followed by home multi-risk insurance (20.79 million) and industrial multi-risk insurance (18.92 million).
The vast majority of business, 93.12%, was channeled directly through the brokers' and brokerage firms' own network, totaling 150.13 million euros.
The declared structure by Girona's intermediaries sums up to 481 people, with a balanced distribution between men and women, although with differences depending on responsibilities.
The Deputy Director of Insurance Entities and Mediators, Xavier Erbàs, highlights a "positive trend" in the sector in Catalonia, marked by a concentration that is consolidating as a structural change.
