Founded in 1958, Calucho Ciclisme has been a cornerstone for cycling enthusiasts in the city, offering a wide range of bicycles, spare parts, and workshop services. The establishment, located on Alcalde Costa street for two decades, has ended a trajectory marked by tradition and personalized service.
The decision to close responds to the increasing difficulty of maintaining the business's viability. The physical bicycle retail sector has experienced strong competition from online sales and an oversupply of products, leading to a constant drop in prices. This is compounded by the current owner's retirement and the lack of generational succession.
For years, Calucho was an official distributor of renowned brands such as Scott, Giant, and BH. This closure adds to a growing trend of local businesses shutting down, especially in Lleida's Eix Comercial, where chains and franchises predominate. In the Zona Alta, although the situation is better, closures have also been recorded in recent months.
Separately, the Presseguer restaurant, located at 19 Balmes Avenue, has also closed its doors after more than six years in operation.
